[12 Sep 2009|11:35pm]

So I've spent the past couple of days downtown at the TIFF festival. The past couple of years I've been a volunteer but this year I decided just to buy tickets rather than bust my butt for free.

Dorian Gray:

Went to the Gala presentation of the film, so Ben Barnes was present (Colin Firth canceled, which is lame but understandable). My seat was up int he highest balcony, but since I did know a lot of the volunteers I managed to get a ticket on the main floor.

I'm rather indifferent to this film. I enjoyed the novel and really do enjoy watching Ben Barnes and Colin Firth together (Easy Virtue was much more enjoyable than this film). I went into the film with the expectations that Dorian was going to have a lot of sex, kill quite a few people and the painting in the attic would get uglier in the process. Those were all met. The film as a whole was trying a little too hard. I would recommend it maybe as a rental but anything beyond that would be a waste of time and money, sadly.

Vintner's Luck:

Another Gala screening, the entire cast and director were present which was really a treat! The film was really marvelous. The acting was great and the film itself was a real sensory experience (something Dorian Gray tried too hard to portray). Gaspard Ulleil was magnificent as the angel and Keisha Castle-Hughes managed to portray an aging wife while not actually aging (not sure what happened with the makeup but everyone else in the film got older and she just looked like she hadn't bathed). Nothing felt forced and the film flowed really well. I didn't think I would be entertained for 2 hours watching a film about wine making, but I was. There was some homo-eroticism in the film that through me off (especially with the actors sitting right in front of me watching the film), needless to say it was a little awkward for everyone.

I'm hoping to catch the Tom Ford film A Single Man on Thursday and then Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus on Saturday!

Sitting here on my Labour Day long weekend. Relaxing while watching Hannah montana on Family Channel. Ever since I quit my old job for my new one life's been peachy, total mental clarity.

So happy right now.

What movie, whether it was nominated by the Academy or not, gets your personal vote for Best Picture of 2008?

Shockingly enough, Two films I enjoyed but were never released were The Narrows and FIfty Dead Men Walking. Both star Kevin Zegers which is why it's shocking, I guess.

"If you want to act like a slut or like a senator, it's your decision but at least take responsibility for who you are."

- This is the best thing I've written in over two weeks.

Nothing much has been happening for the past little while....so nothing really to post.
Started working out again, this time with a trainer....ended up almost going to the hospital with back spasms.
Started written a book and a screenplay. Hopefully I can sell both and make some decent money.
Also, thinking of moving to Australia in the fall but who knows maybe I'll move to Paris instead.

Canadian music week is coming up and they brought me back on as a staff member, which is pretty good considering it's only my second year with them. I'll be working with the shipping and receiving end of things but it means I'll know everyone's name by the end and I get to go to all the parties and events.

I am glad that finally, I am a witness to a positive note in history rather then the many tragedies that have ensued during my lifetime.

Had a job interview with Alliance Films, one of the biggest film distribution companies in Canada.
They said I was over qualified.....how is a recent graduate over qualified for anything?!?!?!
I still have a second interview with them coming up soon so maybe they will give me the job any way.

Oh well, there is a trip to Disney world in the works so that should be fun.

I was offered a special position at canadian music week this year...should be fun but yet again it's unpaid.

Can't a girl get a break?!?!?!

[ music | Chris Cornell - Part of Me ]

Pushing Daisies was CANCELLED today. RIP!

It's amazing how few people can actually appreciate such a wonderful, cinematically georgeous piece of film. Instead they sit through hours of crap like Privileged, The Hills, and other forms of reality television trash.

I don't watch very much Tv anymore...but please don't cancel these anytime soon:
- How I Met Your Mother
- The Big Bang Theory
- Supernatural (only was supposed to be 5 seasons anyway)

Anyway, the universal thing fell through due to my dean being a complete asswipe and not taking 5 minutes to fax over a letter saying that I would be getting credit for my internship. Not all is lost though....I started working with a film production company here in toronto who do this internet show where they have big name music acts play secret shows. So far I've worked with Metro Station, The All-American Rejects and Chris Cornell. Upcoming is supposed to be Katy Perry and Lady Gaga. There might also be a producing job in this for me so I'm busting my ass as a PA in the mean time. They are also connected with a music label and communications group so it also means I can be working for all three companies!

Seriously, Universe, quit freaking me out.

They never call people back, especially not 3 days after you email them your resume! I will be calling back tomorrow first thing. This could lead to my absolute dream job. I AM SO FUCKING CHAFFED RIGHT NOW! I don't even swear that much but SERIOUSLY?!?!?!

Time can only heal certain wounds.
Don't try to rush it...it's just way too soon.
If only you could come back to get me the way you promised.
Maybe I wouldn't be so lost. It's just to much to find us.

Finally started getting back into my hobbies. It feels right.

[ music | Mcfly - Going Through The Motions ]

It's October 6th. I have officially been out of school for a week now.
Still no sign of a job but I am trying really hard ot get one.
Hopefully going to see Panic At The Disco on the 24th even though I have no money.
Planning out my next set of tattoos for when I do get money. They are as follows:

-Adding to my skull and cross bones on my foot with a banner with the words Don't Wake Me Up in it
- A side piece (I'll get this once I lose all the weight I want and look fine as hell) which will feature various lyrics in both french and english of bands and songs that have impacted my life as well as the words "Trois Cent" at the top of my ribcage. There may or may not be flowers involved I haven't decided.

That about it right now.
The only other thing going on is that I am interning with the co-creator of the Toronto Film Festival....helping with grant applications and such.
Looks good on a resume so fingers crossed that it helps.

Haven't updated in forever. Not like many people care.

Crazy summer...one of the best so far.
Tons of Jonas Brothers (Not that I'm complaining)
NYC: probably the most epic trip for me EVER!
Counting crows: I was sooo close to crying.
Tons of laughs at school: sad it's almost over.

It's my final days of being a teenager...makes me a little sad to know that I am only 19 for another 8 days.
I'm spending it in Atlantic CIty this year...for no other reason than it's free and something special to do.
I hadn't planed to do anything actually, so this is way better.

TIFF is right after I get back from New Jersey.
Hoping to get a job from it so I can finally do what I've been kind of hoping to do...move to Los Angeles!

FIngers Crossed.
